INTRODUCTION

Before the COVID outbreak very few people were aware of the concept of the existence of ‘MENTAL HEALTH’, as it was always being thought of as a ‘myth’ or something which was considered as a sign of weakness but post covid mental health has become a major concern worldwide and India is also not far behind and as WHO (world health organization) had declared that without mental health there can be no true physical health so by using newer technology app has been designed so that mental health literacy can be increased at the community level.

POST-COVID SCENARIO

COVID has taught many the importance of the mental well-being of an individual in our society. Since last 1–2 years people have been working from home, children are not being able to go out with their friends to schools, many people have even lost their jobs due to which some people are even struggling to get their family proper food to eat and with a large population of people sitting at home there is a fear among some to even loose their loved ones. with so much uncertainty in the near future, this has affected the mental health of people in a major way.

Nowadays many people are adopting various ways to tackle this problem, so the demand for mental health apps has exponentially increased.

MENTAL HEALTH — A MYTH

In India, People do not freely talk about mental health. it is not at all prioritized. People do not go to therapists, just because they think it will be a ‘shame’ for their families. Mental health is often neglected as part of our well-being and is not given the same importance as physical health.

In this fast-moving modern world, it is important to keep track of our mental health as well. This app is a great way of achieving that. The app provides a safe space as well as privacy to its user. The users may not be able to talk to people about their problems because of potential embarrassment and humiliation But this app provides a safe space, not only to the user but also the world, as well as this medium, enables them to open up and talk about their issues freely. It is a path-breaking development, which I am sure will change the current scenario. this app could benefit a lot of people suffering from mental health and can have a great impact in times to come.

This mental health tracker app is developed on the backdrop of covid 19 pandemic spread, forced lockdown, self-isolation, social distancing, restricted traveling and festival celebrations and constant fear of catching disease which has turned our lives on a roller coaster ride.

  • This app was made using flutter and it keeps a track of mental health by asking questions, suggesting tasks and keeping a record of their progress.
  • when the user answers the questions given to them on the mental health app the answers are then processed and based on those answers users are given some tasks to perform which help the tracker to record the output and further their progress.
  • this app also guides the users on when to take the help of professionals, psychiatrists etc. As per a study done by Harvard University, it has been seen that there is some kind of motivation to use and see mental health apps.
  • The app is designed in an easy, user-friendly and least intrusive way respecting the privacy of users and thus in the secure confines of their homes, this app provides help in the most convenient way possible without any hesitancy in the user’s mind.
  • This app is like a virtual companion, a friend and a place to just let out our feelings and status of our mental health Without the fear of getting judged by anyone. this app can truly be a game-changer in mental health awareness.
